Silver clay is a medium in which pure silver particles are mixed with an organic binder to become a moldable clay form. Once the clay is fired, the organic binder burns away leaving you with a 99% pure silver bespoke piece.

Sterling silver is made up of 92.5% silver and the remainder is other metals such as bronze and copper which are subject to tarnish quicker. While the mixed metals to provide more density and strength to the silver, the tarnish and restrictions of wear and tear can be inconvenient and not as skin-friendly - especially to those with metal allergies. Pure silver is made up of 99% silver which is it's purest form. While it may be softer than sterling, with the right thickness it will not bend as easily as you think. Pure silver is tarnish free, safe to wear in contact with water, more skin-friendly, and of course higher in value.

Silver clay is quite a complicated, delicate medium. Even with instruction and guidance, your ring could easily break during the process if not careful. We have an 18+ age policy in place because the techniques involved are quite advanced and require a certain level of maturity and comprehension. We want to ensure that all participants can fully engage and benefit from the experience. To ensure you can go home with a whole piece that day, this class is only for adults ages 18+. We appreciate your understanding!

The workshop will be 2 hours of hands on, personalized experience with a certified instructor to hand make a single pure silver clay gemstone rings. Up to 4 cubic zirconia gemstones of all sizes are included in the price and you may add on more for an additional fee. From start to finish, you will make your own one-of-a-kind pure silver ring and take it home the same day!

We are located at Ste 140 (next to Coreology) in Building 1 at ROW DTLA in Los Angeles, CA. Parking is free for 2 hours. Additional rates may apply if 2 hours are exceeded.

We offer a freeform class where you will have one on one instrutor guidance and more time to execute more complex designs. Silver clay is a fragile and delicate medium that requires technique and practice. For first timers/beginners, it would take a lot more time to be able to achieve a custom design and shape for beginners.

The gemstone ring shapes can be customized minimally with instructor approval gauging if it is achievable within the class time.

Pure silver is hypoallergenic and the most tarnish resistant silver gets! This means you can wear it all day everyday - showering, washing hands - and it will not tarnish! However, depending on sulfur levels in your everyday surroundings minimal tarnishing can occur if exposed to higher levels of sulfur. If this happens, any silver polishing cleaner will do the trick!

Tip: If you’re not going to wear it for a long time, please store in air tight container or bag to reduce exposure to oxygen!

We are now able to have up to 4 clients attending the workshop at a time. Since silver clay is fragile and delicate, we want to make sure our instructor to pay close attention to detail to ensure each client goes home with a completed piece.
